262 Days to go

> ¡hola familia!
> on saturday, the last member in the cuello home, rodrigo, was
> baptized! we were all pretty excited for him. he has a strong
> testimony of the church and we are proud of the way he is progressing.
> sunday was his confirmation and he will be ordained a priest next
> sunday. all good here in rawson. the only problem... is that i
> forgot my cord to share my pictures of the baptism. sorry. next week!
> yesterday, this inactive member came to church to give me his wayne
> rooney shirt and he ended up staying the whole time. good stuff. i´m
> going to play futbol today to celebrate our bautismo on saturday, and
> i´m hoping the shirt will give me more ´´poder´´!
> this week, we weren´t able to meet our goals of finding 15 new
> investigators but we did a good job. it´s kind of difficult right now
> because almost all of our investigators either are heavy smokers,
> aren´t married, or both. we are making plans for them to get married
> and to help them quit smoking but we are going to invite some members
> to come with us to the lessons this week. someone that already quit,
> or some couple that is happily married. we will see how that goes.
> yesterday, a lot of our investigators slept in and promised they would
> come later but didn´t show up. only a few people came. it was a good
> fast and testimony meeting and i wish that more people would have
> came... pero bueno.
> a pancho is a hotdog. hamburgers here are a LOT bigger (i think i
> sent a picture of a hamburger when i was in zapala) and the meat is
> usually milanesa and has hard boiled eggs in it with mayo. it´s
> delicious but it isn´t the same. i wish we would get some snow too!
> i´m jealous... and i don´t mind if my phone number gets changed.
> the youth in the ward left to go to efy last night. the first efy in
> the patagonia and it is going to be in bariloche. there are about 9
> youth going from rawson (including leandro) and they are all pretty
> excited for it. rodrigo didn´t go but next year he will for sure.
> the ward had some activities to raise money this week. they sold a
> bunch of empanadas and treats, they had a karaoke competition, and a
> dance and they were able to make a bunch.
> this week, i really liked these scriptures in 1 nephi 15:24-25
> 24 And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would
> hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would
> never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the
> adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to
> destruction.
> 25 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give heed unto the word of
> the Lord; yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and
> with all the faculty which I possessed, that they would give heed to
> the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all
> things.
> i love the example of nefi, how he was able to share the word of God
> with ´´all the energies´´ of his soul. i would like to see the ánimo
> that he had while he did it. i know that we too can share the gospel
> like he did because it can help us through any challenge that we have.
> i loved reading verse 24 in spanish because en lugar de decir hold
> fast, it says cling to. i really like that image of clinging to the
> word of God, really studying, understanding, and applying the
> scriptures in our lives.
> i don´t have a lot of time because we are going to trelew to play
> futbol pretty soon, but i really love you guys and i´m looking forward
> to hearing from you next week. enjoy the snow!
> con mucho amor y ánimo,
> elder summers
