16 MONTHS! (8 To Go:)

¡hola familia!
> to start out, i love cinco saltos! it is great and i love being here!
> it is very green with tons of trees, lots of fruit, and lots of work
> for us. it gets pretty hot, but we are under the shade of the trees
> as we walk most of the time. it´s awesome. i´m not sure what my
> address is but i live on antartida argentina and the church is on
> avenida argentina close to the road called roca. it´s the centro of
> the city.
> cinco saltos is a lot bigger than rawson and we cover it all. we want
> to get bikes so we can visit the chacras (those are like big fruit
> farms where people live) during the week. we are really excited and
> we got a lot done this week. we found a family of 15 that has a lot
> of interest and we are also working with a few kids that were never
> baptized. there are a few others that are part member families and
> they know the church is true but they say that they lack preparation,
> no más. we are going to help with that :). my ward mission leader is
> awesome too. he is also a counsilor (sp?) in the obispado and he
> wants to help us a lot. he is a recent convert. our bishop is also
> really cool. he is 29 and a returned missionary. he likes to work
> with us too. the only problem is that 18 people were in church this
> sunday, 4 are priesthood holders. there are 300 members in cinco
> saltos and we have a large, beautiful chapel but we are lacking in
> attendance. on sunday, elder zarceño and i both gave talks about
> searching for the lost sheep and magnifying our callings in the
> church. it went very well. i played the piano and they told me that
> it has been more than a year that they had anyone in the ward that
> knows how to play. i´m going to teach lessons.
> you know who else was here in cinco saltos? elder page, my comp from
> the mtc, trained here. and before him, taylor merrill. in our area
> book is a picture of him and his district. that was pretty crazy to
> find.
> my district is really awesome and we are all really excited to work
> hard. the other missionaries are in centenario, about 15 minutes away
> on a bus. there are six in total including me and my comp. we had a
> district meeting on friday in centenario and my zone leaders came too,
> elder escobar and zebley. zebley was companions with suarez in zapala
> before me, and escobar trained me. it was really cool to see him
> again and when he calls me, i answer- hola, papi. it is cool to see
> how much he has grown as a leader over the last year and i´m trying to
> follow his example. i´m learning a lot.
> i´m trying really hard to follow up with my district on all of their
> baptismal dates to see how their investigators are doing and to see
> how i can help if they have any doubts or concerns. i call every
> night to verificar and make sure everything is going well. in my
> district, our goal for baptisms in march is 10, and i know we can make
> it. we have 12 fechas all together and we are really excited. elder
> zarceño and i set 5 fechas this week and we are really excited right
> now.
> my companion and i get along really well together and our lessons we
> teach are awesome. we have a lot of ´´poder´´ when we teach together
> and we are rocking it!!! my comp has almost 13 months on the mission.
> we both have a lot of experience on the mission and we are like alma
> and amulek together. today, i have 16 months!!! i´m going to
> celebrate. our plan was to go to neuquen as a district to play futbol
> and eat lunch with a family there but today is a holiday and i don´t
> know if the bus will come... i don´t think we can go this week.
> president peterson told us this week that our new mission president
> will be president lovell from south jordan, utah. i think he is going
> to start here in june or july... i´m not sure but it is coming close.
> it will be interesting to see the changes our new mission president is
> going to make in a few months, but we are going to enjoy pte peterson
> and his leadership while we have him. he is an awesome guy.
> dad- i did really like the summary you made of my mission. it was
> cool to see everything compiled and written like that to see
> everywhere i´ve been and the companions i have had. how did it go with
> the young men on sunday? did it inspire them to write me a lot more?
> my valentine´s package still hasn´t arrived but i´m sure next week it
> will come.
> my scriptures for the week are 2 nefi 11:6-7, and D&C 51:16-19.
> like it says in dyc 51, i want to serve here in cinco saltos as if i´m
> going to live here forever. i shared those scriptures with my
> district on friday so they could have that image (i can´t think of the
> word... outlook, view?) in their own areas too.
> i love you guys and i´m looking forward to hearing from you next week!
> con mucho amor y ánimo,
> elder summers
