Day 237

¡hola familia!
this week has been awesome! monday night, president petersen called me and said, ´´congratulations, elder summers! you will be training this transfer!´´ i was a little surprised... i went to pick up elder taylor on tuesday and then on saturday i went to pick up my new companion and a mini missionary for elder taylor. we now have 4 missionaries in our branch 12 de julio and we are doing awesome. just because i told the president that i wanted to see the branch become a ward! we are doing awesome here and it has been cool seeing the other missionaries walking around with us. we just share the whole area and it has been really cool. i don´t know how it will all be but i´m pretty excited. my comp is named elder ruano. he is from california and he speaks spanglish because his parents are from guatemala and el salvador. he is a really great guy and i am excited to help him get started on the right foot! he is a little shy but we are going to practice a ton. the mini missionary is from neuquen so it is great practice for my comp to talk to him all the time, and we rarely speak english in the house. i know that the best way to get better speaking is to always speak the language and completely change your thoughts into the other language so i´m going to try and help him a lot. i guess i won´t lose my castellano after all!!! :)
when i went to neuquen on saturday, pte petersen explained to us a new program to train missionaries that the 12 apostles have been organizing and i will be one of the first missionaries to use it. it involves 4 hours of study every day. 1 hour of personal, 1 hour together, 1 hour to study the language, and 1 hour after lunch during the siesta to practice teaching or doing other activities. i´m really excited to be training and i know that things are going to go great. elder ruano is a little shy in the lessons but we are going to practice a lot for him to gain more confidence!
we had some problems in the beginning because elder suarez took all of his money to his country and he was supposed to leave 600 pesos for us to use but now we have everything taken care of. it was the birthday of sister sosa yesterday so we are going to go celebrate right now. she has a new compañera from florida named hna gonzalez but she is white.
now i don´t have much time because my district wants to get going to celebrate... i have not received the package yet but i´m pretty excited for it. together, elder ruano and i have been finding some more people and we are going to do awesome. brian is supposed to be baptized this saturday and it will be awesome. i´m looking forward to everything this week and i´m pretty pumped. its a little scary to think that mollie is in singles ward but at least she is having fun. the family reunion would be awesome in 2013 because i think there will be lots of new people that i will need to meet! i don´t have much time to write to everyone this week because i want to be 100% obedient with my new comp and write only 40 minutes. hey! it would be great if you guys started writing dearelder letters too. i am going to be here in zapala for another 3 months because part of the new training program is to be with your ´´reinforcement´´ for 12 weeks and he should be ready to train after that time. i added some pictures of me and elder ruano.
i love you all and i´m so excited for next monday. sorry, this week is short but next week will be easier with more details.
con mucho amor y ánimo,
elder summers
